European Symposium of the C.L. Davis DVM Foundation
We would like to welcome you to join us for the European Symposium of the C.L. Davis DVM Foundation, this year held on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th September at the Scandic Grand Marina Hotel in Helsinki, Finland.
Our topic for 2015 is Comparative Neuropathology and we are delighted to have Dr Brad Bolon and Prof Anna Oevermann sharing their wealth of experience and aiming to shed some light on, what for many pathologists and trainees alike, is a challenging organ system.
Brad and Anna will cover, amongst others, the following key areas:
- Fundamental neurobiology including neuroanatomy of the CNS
- Removal of brain and spinal cord, brain trimming, sampling and detection of gross lesions for histological examination
- Major reactions to neural injury and common artefacts
- Principles of lesion classification/pattern recognition CNS and PNS
- Neuropathological lesions – Degenerative / Metabolic (storage diseases)
- Neuropathological lesions – Inflammatory
- Neuropathological lesions – Neoplastic and vascular
- Neuropathological lesions – Toxic
These courses are designed as both a refresher for experienced pathologists and as core material for trainees and residents seeking Board examination certification.
This year the CL Davis DVM Foundation, European Division will be offering 5 bursaries to delegates who are in full time veterinary pathology training or registered for a PhD. The award includes €400 towards travel and accommodation and free registration.
Helsinki is a beautiful city with many fantastic attractions and long summer evenings. The Symposium follows the ECVP/ESVP Annual Meeting and our location within the Grand Marina Hotel on the main Helsinki harbour front makes for an easy evening boat ride out to the numerous small islands that make up the archipelago.
