BSTP Mentorship Initiative
The current global demand for toxicological pathologists, whilst welcome to us already in the business, has increased the need for our more experienced pathologists to “give something back”, as new trainees and junior professionals begin to join our ranks.
Over the past few months, the BSTP Council have been drafting a Mentorship Initiative and collating a list of willing volunteer mentors, who have kindly offered their time to help the next generation of toxicological pathologists. This may be in the form of simple phone-based advice around which exam may be the most appropriate for a given trainee; likewise, there may be sufficient demand to organise group-based Webinars/round-robin discussions, wherein a panel of “helpful seniors” could offer practical and pragmatic guidance, or even offer short periods of work experience. The interaction could be topic-specific or general.
The BSTP are currently assembling a database of willing mentors and mentees, and are scoping the extent/areas of demand.
There are already a number of interested mentees and mentors, but would encourage anyone, at any level, to get involved.
Please contact us if you’d like to join in. The next step will be to construct a members’ list/discussion board within the main webpage, wherein related topics can be discussed and individuals aligned.
