A deposit of clear large cells with eccentric nuclei (mature adipocytes) occupies the whole of the midline of the cerebrum, compressing the cerebral structures mildly.
Lipomatous hamartoma in the brain consists of mature adipocytes containing a single large fat droplet and is predominantly located in the midline or ventricles of the brain. These lesions result from a faulty development of the meninges or choroid plexus. Because these lesions neither grow rapidly nor progress to tumours and because they are related to abnormal development, the term lipomatous hamartoma rather than lipoma seems appropriate.
lipomatous hamartoma; lipoma
