"Mouse Models of Disease - linking in vivo observations to pathology endpoints" BSTP / The Welcome Trust

The aims of this 3-day meeting are to bring together veterinary and human pathologists and scientists working with mouse models in academic and industrial research to discuss the use of pathology and related in vivo techniques for phenotypic analysis of mouse models of disease. The programme will provide scientific, educational and training material and will allow for discussion of future scientific, educational and training needs and opportunities.

The meeting will cover the background strategies for making genetically altered mice, the importance of mouse strain, nomenclature, spontaneous pathology and sampling techniques. In addition, the use of pathology and related techniques will be illustrated using examples of mouse models of ageing diseases including cancer, metabolic diseases, neurodegeneration and arthritis.
