As you are obviously aware the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak is having repercussions for all events in relation to regional and international travel.
To ensure the safety and well-being of our organisers, participants and speakers, and also the staff at the venues we use, in addition to CES 3 and CES 4, a decision has reluctantly been taken to postpone the 35th Annual Scientific Meeting of the BSTP which was due to take place in Cambridge on 12th and 13th November 2020.
Unfortunately because the long term effect of the virus is not known at this time, the tentative plan is for the meeting to be rearranged for November 2021, however, at this stage we are unable to confirm the date and venue.
The BSTP Council and EduSubCom are still working and holding monthly webex meetings to try and rearrange CES 3 and 4 and the ASM as soon as it becomes safe to hold them. In addition Council and the EduSubCom are looking at the possibility of holding a series of webinars over the coming months and although not an option at the moment, in the event of prolonged disruption to travel, whether any of these events could be held remotely. Obviously we are all working in strange times and it is likely that what has been the norm for the BSTP over the last 35 years, may have to change not only in the short term but possibly long term.
The BSTP are sorry that it has not been able to make any arrangements for the events due to take place in 2020, but as soon as the new dates and a venue for all events have been confirmed, all members of the BSTP will be inform and the details will be posted on the BSTP Group LinkedIn page and on the BSTP website.
As ever, if you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us – stay well and stay safe.
For the time being the BSTP office is only open on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings – 9 – 12 noon.
