Your Society needs you!
Here is an opportunity for you to get involved and influence the future of the BSTP!
2022 is a significant year for the British Society of Toxicological Pathology with many positions on the Council up for election at the AGM in November (Junior Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and 3 Councillors).
After 18 years in the role, the current Honorary Treasurer and after 10 years as Honorary Secretary, both will not be standing for re-election, so it is important that members consider nominating themselves for one of these vital roles.
All members who have paid their 2022 membership renewal fees by the date of this email are eligible to be nominated and to vote in any subsequent election. If you are unsure as to whether your payment has been received, please contact the BSTP Secretariat.
The Council welcomes new faces from all sectors of our membership. It is an exciting time to be involved with the future of our society. Whilst we recognise our core strengths in education, there is an open mindedness to new ideas, directions and collaborations. If you would like more information on what the roles involve feel free to contact the current Council member or the President. Formal nominations for candidacy require the support of three current members of the society and should be submitted to the BSTP Secretariat. If you would like to find out more about particular roles on Council, or would like help in finding BSTP members to support your candidacy, then please contact any member of the current Council.
- The work is not onerous, and one is exposed to many different and interesting situations such as organising the BSTP annual scientific meeting or commenting on new toxicopathology pathology guidance documents such as those on digital pathology.
- Volunteering for your professional organisation is a motivating experience with multiple benefits.
- Volunteering helps to raise one’s visibility in the profession and allows one to meet fellow pathologists in different companies leading to lifelong friendships.
- Your BSTP committee work counts for continuing education points for the Royal College of Pathologists and the European College of Veterinary Pathology.
- Serving on the BSTP Council is also highly valued if seeking membership of the International Academy of Toxicologic Pathology.
- Serving on your BSTP Council can help to improve one’s curriculum vitae and promotion prospects, but most importantly it is a highly enjoyable and satisfying experience to “put back” into one’s professional body.
